SALA DE ESPERA RADIO IS HEADING TO SXSW
Specialty radio program will host 2 official showcases at this year’s music conference
Los Angeles, March 1, 2011 – As the music industry readies itself to attend the 25th installment of SXSW (March 11-20) so too does one of the leading radio programs for Latin Alternative music. Over the past two years, web based radio program, Sala de Espera has struck a nerve in the ears of music lovers around the world and in turn caught the attention of SXSW organizers.
As a result, Sala de Espera Radio been chosen to participate at this year’s music conference as curator and host of 2 distinct showcases. Bringing to life their ability to program some of the best, up and coming bands alongside established favorites from the Latin Alternative music scene.
The first showcase will take place on Wednesday, March 16th at Mi Casa Cantina. It will feature the eclectic sounds of Latin Alternative acts whose recent albums have received tremendous online buzz as well as airplay on Sala de Espera. The line up includes 69 Nombres from Colombia, melody maker Pedro Piedra, singer/songwriter Orlando, psychedelic garage rockers Los Negretes, Francisca Valenzuela out of Chile and Mexican indie act Chikita Violenta.
The second showcase unfolds inside the Austin Convention center at the DotCom Day Stage, Friday, March 18th from noon-3pm and will bring together 3 impressive artists; all in distinct phases of their careers: Mexican Institute of Sound (“the headliner”), Adanowsky (“the cult favorite”), and Gustavo Galindo (“the fresh face”).
